Was reading earlier today that Portland, with 153 days of rain a year, and Minneapolis, with an incredibly cold winter, are two of the top 3 cities in the US for portion of workers who commute by bike — and yet Dallas — with great weather 9 months out of the year — is the largest city in the US without bike lanes.
I remember days of old when Dallas would not tolerate any city doing things bigger and better and was so forward thinking that young people flocked to Dallas in late 70′s and early 80′s — we were a “can do” city.
I wonder if we have the political will to alter the status quo and engage in true re-invention of the urban core? or are we stuck in bureaucracy and red tape and lack of inertia?
